A Bit About Me
Welcome to the Davidson United Methodist Churck Library!
Please visit and introduce yourself. I'd love to meet you! The library is open within the church offices are open, but I work part-time. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to set a specific time to meet.
I started work at the library in 2001. When I came into the church for my first day, everyone was crowded around a TV set in the church office, watching the news. I began as an assistant to Kathy Stark, who founded the library in 1991, and then I took over when she retired. I'm from the South coast of England near Brighton in Sussex. I studied French and Linguistics at the University of Essex in the UK. I lived in Normandy, France, during my third year of college, where I taught English at two secondary schools.
After graduating, I studied TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) and then moved to Portugal to work in a language school. It was there that I met Robert, my husband, who is the Chaplain of Davidson College. Because he'd grown up in Brazil, he was fluent in Portugese, so he became my boss at the school! We started dating when he came home with me to England for Christmas, and we pretty soon got engaged and then married. We lived in Charlottesville, VA; Princeton, NJ - where my husband studied to get his MDiv, and I worked in the University Library; and then moved to Davidson in 1993. We have two delightful adult children; both have wonderful partners.
