Music with Ms. Patty

Patty began teaching preschool music at DUMC Preschool in the fall of 2004 while she was a Kindermusik teacher for "Kindermusik of Davidson."  She retired in August 2017 from DUMC after 14 years as the Director of Children's Music. 

Patty's philosophy incorporates many Kindermusik educational tools along with the spiritual aspect of age-appropriate songs about God and Jesus.

• Large motor movement choreographed to a song (sung or instrumental) such as leaves (scarves) falling, butterflies flying, animals moving, etc. 

• Small motor movement may include a rhyme with a finger play or a simple sign language (ASL)

Each month the children begin Music Time together by clapping (and other movements)  to our "Hello Song." Then depending on the season, the children learn a simple song that covers the overall theme. Next, there may be a music instrument play-along or perhaps an active listening exercise. These activities allow for excellent social interaction among peers.
